Mental Health Professional - Family Based

Job Description

The Mental Health Professional provides intensive, home and community-based family therapy to children and adolescents displaying social, emotional and/or behavioral disorders and their families with an emphasis on keeping the family unit intact, alleviating children’s symptoms, advocating for parents, and interagency collaboration, and the application of structural/systemic model to child/adolescent behavioral problems and mental health disorders. As part of a therapeutic team, the MHP provides a continuum of services, including intensive case management, system advocacy, information/referral, therapy (individual to child or adult, family and couples), and crisis intervention/stabilization.
This position is in our Family First program.

Job Requirements

  • Masters degree in Family Therapy, counseling, social worker, psychology, or related field
  • License in respective field preferred; Licensed Supervision and AAMFT Approved Supervision is available.
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience working with children and families in a mental health, education, child welfare or juvenile justice system OR a minimum of two (2) years case management experience working within a multi-disciplinary team and collaborating with multiple service providers
  • Must be competent to address the age-specific issues relative to the population served.
  • Knowledge of DSM-IV, community resources, home-based service provision, special education, 302 criteria, and abuse/neglect report procedures preferred.
  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
