IFCO SYSTEMS is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Assistant General Manager for our Reusable Plastic Container division in San Antonio, TX. We are seeking smart energetic candidates driven to succeed.  The successful candidate will be charged with learning the business and assisting the facility’s General Manager with running the operation.

This position provides the leadership, management, and vision necessary to ensure operating efficiency and the highest level of customer service. Previous experience in a manufacturing, warehousing, distribution, and/or logistics environment is preferred.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and deliver the plant’s operational budget and performance metrics as a key member of the plant leadership team.
  • Deliver more efficient and safer methods of meeting the needs and expectations of our customers’ and IFCO Systems.
  • Monitor/Audit all functions performed within the facility including: Safety, HR/Payroll, Quality/AIB processes, Production, Financial, and other general day to day functions.
  • Working closely with General Manager and Office manager to monitor daily productivity, shipping, receiving, and data entry performed in association with these functions.
  • Managing the Shift supervisors to ensure daily staffing totals are monitored while achieving expected productivity vs. costs within the facility.
  • Collaborate with the Office Manager and Shift Supervisors to enhance all functions and operations conducted within the facility in order to produce a better quality product, a safer work place, and a more efficient operation.
  • Provide coverage during the absence of the General Manager and ensure quality, safety and financial goals are met, while maintaining all policies and procedures set forth by IFCO Systems.
  • Support and assist in future projects as assigned by senior management.

Applicants must have P&L and budgeting experience. Prior sales experience - especially as it relates to developing new markets and analyzing current market potentials - is a definite plus. Responsibilities will include marketing, sales, operations, and administrative management.

 

Job Requirements

  • The successful candidate will possess proven people management skills.
  • 2 to 4 year degree in management or equivalent experience. 
  • At least 5+ years of previous management experience in a high volume production/warehousing facility required.

  • Experience managing 100+ personnel in a high volume 24 hour production/warehouse environment required.

  • Safety program management experience required

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Proven planning and organizational skills with the ability to handle high volume operational requirements.

  • Knowledge of P&L and budget process preferred.

  • Familiar with applicable federal and state laws pertaining to wage and hour, employee relations and safety.

  • Computer literacy required, including proficiency in standard business applications included in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Background in Lean or 6 Sigma skills.

  • Documented OSHA safety training and/or accreditation strongly preferred.

  • Candidates must be goal driven and results oriented; be able to work effectively and efficiently with others; and have the ability to motivate and enable others to achieve excellence.

    The successful candidate will possess proven people management skills, strategic thinking ability, strong math and computer skills, and solid presentation skills. Applicants need a good working knowledge of all Microsoft Office products, especially Excel.
