Strategic Business Unit Controller

Established manufacturer in Gardena, CA.  Major manufacturer who is a global market provider, well established in their industry and a leading supplier to customers worldwide, dedicated professional staff, opportunities for progression, learning and contribution. 

Growing company - expectations are for revenues to double in the next few years as well as grow through acquisition.

  

Responsibilities include:

  

Management of all operations in the areas of cost management, standard cost accounting and reporting, cost modeling, cost analysis, variance analysis, inventory management, supply chain pricing, and monthly manufacturing performance analysis as well as ERP system management. This is a very high exposure position that supports the various operational leaders in the Finance, Supply Chain and Manufacturing groups.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Management of all operations for the business unit in the areas of:
  • General accounting
  • Month end close
  • Account reconciliations
  • Financial Statement preparation and Review
  • Management of the Standard Costing system
  • Financial reporting for executive management
  • Inventory analysis
  • Monthly manufacturing performance analysis
  • ERP system management
  • Internal Controls management
  • Preparation of budgets and forecasts
  • Assists with presentations to external partners: private equity sponsor, banks, etc.
  • Preparation of cash flow projections
  • Gross margin analysis
  • All special projects involving the company 's strategic direction


Job Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field from an accredited university 
  • Must have strong communication skills and be able to interface with all levels of management 
  • Public Accounting experience preferred but may be substituted for manufacturing experience
  • CPA or MBA preferred
  • Ability to manage a broad range of activities and juggle multiple tasks 
  • Self-starter and able to work under tight deadlines 
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Organized, self-motivated, ability to multi-task and work independently

  • Ability to adapt in a fast paced, deadline driven and frequently changing environment and demands on the accounting team.
  • Ability to work effectively with teams, ability to work hands on when researching or resolving questions.
  • Ability to learn new financial systems and multi dimensional ad hoc reporting tools very quickly and self-directed.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to think big picture, ability to drill into details where needed.
  • Ability to quickly understand department processes to better understand the role this job plays in those processes.
  • Ability to identify and solve issues quickly and decisively.
