SUMMARY
The purpose of this position is to assist the Program Manager in all facets of the daily management in our 24-hour shelter care facility.  The Shelter Care Specialist is responsible for providing the direct day-to-day care to the youths while teaching them appropriate social skills and implementing the youths' treatment plans.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

  • Perform all duties associated with day-to-day safety, teachings, modeling and guidance of the youths, including implementation of each youth's treatment plan.
  • Monitor and supervise youths' behaviors at all times, including outside of the shelter and at bedtime.
  • Transport clients to appointments, recreational activities, other locations, etc. in agency van or personal vehicle.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork and documentation in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Engage in all offered training, consultations and supervisions made available.  Fully and professionally respond to and implement all directives and advice offered by all supervisory and training personnel as well as professionally offered feedback from coworkers.
  • Complete all Core Curriculum Training(s) as required for this position.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or a related field and at least one to two years of related experience working with at risk youth required. Previous work experience with at-risk youth and/or in a 24-hour care facility is a plus.

  • Current driver’s license
  • Current auto insurance
  • Ability to work all shifts
  • Ability to work on holidays and weekends
  • Ability to transport clients in agency/personal vehicle as necessary
