The IP Docket Clerk will work closely with the IP Docket Supervisor and Docket Coordinators to support the Intellectual Property practice in multiple Firm offices. Primary responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, maintaining the docket diary for Intellectual Property prosecution cases, under the direction of the Firmwide Docket Supervisor and IP Docket Coordinators, using a computerized docketing system, that alerts attorneys, secretaries and paralegals to upcoming due dates and deadlines; reviewing incoming USPTO and client correspondence and determining due dates or reminder dates that need to be entered into the docketing database, as well as, entering all due dates and reminder dates, as appropriate, into the docketing database. The IP Docket Clerk will also be responsible for updating information in the docketing database indicated by instructions received from the attorney, secretary, and paralegal or client correspondence; assist in the process of IP prosecution file transfers into and out of the Firm, process requested reports, and complete global name changes in the docket database. Other tasks of the position include IP database cleanup, providing system searches upon specific request and various other tasks as requested/needed.

Job Requirements

The successful candidate will have 1-2 years of administrative or secretarial experience, preferably in a law firm, and a High school diploma or equivalent. Candidate should have the ability to type 45+ wpm and have experience in using Microsoft Office Suite and database or spreadsheet software. Candidate should have good oral and written communication skills, excellent organizational skills and client service skills and the ability and willingness to learn.
