Job Description


 

Our client is the leader in office interior market. Manage all activities of the Human Resources Department for two locations including: recruiting, compensation, employee relations, benefits administration, performance management and regulatory compliance. Central Houston location.



RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coach and guide managers, supervisors and employees on HR and employee relations matters; Provide consistent application and administration of HR policies; Develop and maintain open and active lines of communication with the workforce; Coordinate hiring process including all pre-employment screening, new hire paperwork and orientation; Actively recruit new candidates for open positions, schedule and conduct interviews, assess skills and experience of applicants, and work with managers to make employment decisions and determine appropriate compensation; Network through industry contacts, associations, trade groups and educational resources in order to proactively develop qualified candidates in advance of need; Conduct training for Managers, Supervisors and all employees on various HR topics including policies, benefits and leadership skills; Coordinate and implement various wellness programs and initiatives; Administer employee benefit programs including communication, enrollment and changes; Maintain appropriate employment and other related files in accordance with legal requirements; Assist in the development of individual development plans with Managers; Conduct exit interviews and monitor trends in attrition and further identify solutions; Collect and analyze data in the local markets in order to make recommendations to executive leadership regarding compensation structure; Manage and direct the activities of the HR Coordinator, HR Administrator and Receptionist positions in the Houston office; Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related
  • 7+ years’ experience as a HR Generalist/Specialist with increasing responsibility
  • 3+ years’ experience in a supervisory/management role
  • PHR or SPHR designation required
  • Proven recruiting and interviewing skills
  • Ability to motivate people and manage processes 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Detail oriented
  • Strong presentation skills with ability to clearly communicate ideas and action plans
  • Strong networking skills
  • Good judgment, problem solving and decision making skills
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people
  • Willing and able to travel occasionally
  • Experience with Federal and State regulations including Affirmative Action, FLSA, ADA and FMLA required 
  • Working knowledge of MS Office products (MS Word, Excel, Power Point)
