How would you like to live in a beautiful rural community that has excellent golfing, fishing, hiking, trophy hunting, snowmobiling, off-roading, and skiing all within a short driving distance?  Eckert is one of the small towns that make up Surface Creek Valley in Delta County, Western Colorado.  It is surrounded by national parks including the Grand Mesa which is the world’s largest flat top mesa and has over 300 lakes.  Powder Horn ski resort is just 30 miles away and Cedaredge Golf Course is within 5 miles.  There are excellent schools nearby, the winters are mild, and the people are very friendly and welcoming.




  1. Evaluates residents and provides O.T. upon the written order of the resident’s attending physician.
  2. Manages and supervises the Occupational Therapy assistants and/or rehabilitation aides in direct resident/patient care and resident/patient-related activities.
  3. Plans, implements, coordinates and evaluates the Occupational Therapy offered by the department (i.e.:  assist with scheduling, transportation, filing, and mailing).
  4. Participates in resident care planning conferences when necessary.
  5. Communicates with Director of Rehabilitation and other health team members regarding resident/patient progress, problems and plans.
  6. Administers personnel functions of the Occupational Therapy Department:
  7. Monitors monthly department expenditures to budget.
  8. Participates in Interdisciplinary Team meetings.
  9. Completes necessary MDS, PPS documentation and evaluation.
  10. Participate in the PPS team process monitoring minutes of therapy and understanding the PPS systems.
  11. Confers with the Director of Rehabilitation on an annual basis relevant to the development and implementation of department objectives with respect to overall facility and organizational goals. Reviews goals and objectives quarterly.
  12. Conducts or participates in continuing education programs for facility.
  13. Attends required in-services & completes assigned on-line modules.
  14. Teaches the residents and/or family members and nursing staff, as needed, and/or program requires, in restorative and maintenance programs.
  15. Make rounds with designated nursing personnel on all residents receiving occupational therapy at regular intervals as determined by the Director of Rehabilitation.
  16. Assists in ensuring that O.T. services are provided on a continuous basis without interruption.  Assists with finding replacement for Therapist when needed.
  17. Supervises maintenance of equipment and supplies, and evaluates and notifies Director of Rehabilitation on a continuing basis of the condition of department’s equipment.
  18. Supplies billing

Job Requirements

  1. Graduate from an Occupational Therapy (O.T.) curriculum accredited jointly by the Council on Medical Education and Hospitals of the American Medical Association and the American Occupational Therapy Association, or is eligible for certification by the American Occupational Therapy Association under its requirements.
  2. A minimum of one year experience as an O.T. in a long-term care facility.
  3. Ability to understand medical terminology and how it applies to O.T. in order to communicate effectively with residents, staff and physicians, and to prepare meaningful reports.
  4. Coordination and dexterity necessary to manipulate tools and materials while instructing residents.
  5. Adequate strength and endurance to meet physical demands involved in using equipment, tools and materials while instructing residents.
  6. Must be licensed or registered in state as an Occupational Therapist.
  7. Ability to utilize computers and other electronic devices for tasks such as timekeeping, in-servicing and documentation.
