Job Description

 The Product Manager supports the development of HMS’s core integration and interoperability application software, including HL7 interfaces, by working closely with customers, programming, marketing, support, implementation and professional services. In some cases, helps to identify and resolve errors that occur during software application. Reviews, develops and implements software enhancements to ensure basic functionality of application. The Product Manager also provides analytical and educational support to key HMS departments by remaining knowledgeable of HMS software use and operational needs of the hospital. Senior Product Manager leads other development staff in projects and supports the organization as needed in non-development roles as required to meet organizational goals.

•    Maintain proficiency on HMS integration and interoperability products including HL7 interfaces.
•    Maintains knowledge on healthcare trends especially their product.
•    Knowledgeable of operational issues that surround supported products.
•    Product Analysis – researches (reviews doc., tests, reviews reports, created adhoc report) problems offered by customers to determine application or system enhancement. Explains problem and its impact on the system to HMS staff to obtain appropriate solutions. Resolves hard-to-answer problems whenever support, sales and professional services cannot resolve. Updates appropriate tracking tools to initiate and follow-up on problems designed applications resolution.
•    Problem Coordination – logs problem PIFs and submits relevant information (screen prints, reports) to document events and expectations.
•    Follow-up on status of problem with appropriate personnel. Escalates problem when determined necessary and follow-up to ensure continued emphasis on resolution.
•    Programming Support and Communication – works closely with programming to develop programs as needed. Understanding of programming needs to better develop appropriate functions in a speedy and efficient manner.
•    Interacts with programming staff effectively.
•    Documents process flow diagrams and/or program modifications.
•    Present the functional specification to the programming department.
•    Submit change request to the functional specification based on new data and/or client requirements.
•    Review program design for conformity to functional specifications.
•    Develop quality assurance test scenarios and review results of testing results for conformity to test scenarios.

Job Requirements

Have strong healthcare integration experience including:
•    Experience with existing Healthcare integration engines and tools such as Mirth Connect.
•    Detailed knowledge of HL7 2.x/3.0 standard with demonstrated ability.
•    Extensive knowledge of both structured and non-structured clinical data formats (ADT, labs, clinical notes, etc.).
•    Strong expertise in standard healthcare code-sets (ICD-9/10, SNOMED, LOINC, etc.).
•    Expertise with XML messaging formats such as CCD/CDA or CCR.
•    Retains a basic understanding of the RPG and JAVA environment.
•    Upgrades/Customization – develops and distributes summary of enhancements for each release. Determines impact of software changes to customers and HMS areas.
•    Maintains project schedule, coordinates conflicts and system requirements with applications.
•    Requires a bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of experience in the field.
•    A certain degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
•    Good interpersonal skills that include the ability to effectively communicate in both writing and verbally.
•    Excellent written, proofreading, and verbal communication skills.
•    Must be able to efficiently and independently manage projects and issues.
•    Must possess and have proven problem resolution skills.
•    Must be detail oriented, organized, and have the ability to multi-task.
•    Ability to demonstrate supportive relationships with peers, clients, partners, and corporate executives.
•    Must be flexible and work with a high level of initiative.  
•    Must have the ability to remain professional under high pressure situations.
•    Ability to retain and protect confidential material.
•    Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
•    Negative pre-employment drug and background tests.
