SCS is currently seeking Mechanical Engineers and Managers for client companies in the steel industry. 

Maintenance Shift Manager

  • Administration of company policies and procedures
  • Direct supervision of Mechanical Maintenance personnel
  • Participate in the manufacturing, safety, and environmental programs to ensure a safe work environment
  • Adhere to the Quality Policy to promote continuous improvement of our products, processes and services
  • Attain results through effective planning, organizing, controlling, and assignment of priorities
  • Maintain effective and consistent work performance, even under uncertain or unstructured conditions in the face of stress
  • Identify basic problem(s), gather the appropriate information, and analyze in an effective manner
  • Make decisions with a clear business focus on safety, quality, and productivity
  • Perform safety and quality audits/observations within the department to detect existing or potential accident hazards, or quality defects
  • Assist in the development, review, and update of JSHA's (Job Safety and Health Analysis) to eliminate safety hazards
  • Facilitate weekly safety contacts/safety meetings

Mechanical Engineer
  • Plan and coordinate maintenance activities within a department.
  • Responsible for routine maintenance functions such as repairing, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and maintenance reliability.
  • Perform and assist in troubleshooting of equipment failure to determine root causes.
  • Ensure equipment reliability through proper preventative maintenance techniques.
  • Plan and develop projects for new and improved facilities and processes.
  • Identify process improvements and/or critical equipment replacements.
  • Participate in technical investigations, studies, problem review and provide sound engineering evaluations and recommendations for proposed action.
  • Coordinate projects with Engineering, Operating and Maintenance departments.

Job Requirements

  • BS Mechanical Engineering or previous supervisory and/or co-op experience in a heavy manufacturing environment
  • Steel industry experience a plus
  • Basic computer skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Must be willing to work rotating shifts, weekends and holidays
