Job Description

GKN is a global engineering and manufacturing company focused on the aerospace and automotive industries with operations in more than thirty countries and employs 43,000 people in its subsidiaries.  The St. Louis site mission is to delight the customer through innovative and best value global aerospace solutions.  We provide our customers unbiased design and development support in metals, composites and RTM assemblies to meet cost and performance objectives as well as manufacturing capabilities to meet those objectives.  We are currently seeking candidates for open NC Programmer II for our St. Louis site.  Ideal candidates will be responsible for the following:

Basic Function:   To assist the development of data and processes necessary to generate NC programs to facilitate and control the manufacture of products in the St. Louis facilities.

 

 

  • Plans, creates, verifies and revises machine control data and documentation that direct the operation for multi-axis numerically controlled machines and robots required to manufacture and inspect complex parts and tools. 
  • Provides numerical control, machining and programming technical expertise to cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams.
  • Establishes technical requirements for manufacturing and producibility. 
  • Defines and designs complex fixtures used to manufacture or inspect parts. 
  • Plans, guides and facilitates the development and integration of new machining techniques and manufacturing methods or inspection techniques, processes and software.
  • Continuously improves the quality of manufacturing processes and supplier-provided work.

 

 

Job Requirements


Education:
 

  • Associate degree in N/C Programming, Manufacturing Technology or equivalent, or 2 years equivalent experience in lieu of degree.

 

Experience and Qualifications: 

  • Some N/C Programming experience using a CAD/CAM system to analyze and modify part models and produce programs is preferred.
  • Aerospace manufacturing experience preferred. 
  • Unigraphics and/or CATIA are the preferred systems.
  • Familiarity with Windows XP environments and office tools is highly desirable.
