Job Description

A Product Specialist at Schaeffer's Investment Research (SIR) is responsible for accurately representing Schaeffer’s products and brand by educating new and established customers on the features and benefits of SIR's products and preferred options trading strategies.  In addition, a product specialist is responsible for meeting and exceeding individual sales goals in support of overall department objectives through working effectively with qualified individual investors via telephone and selling products that fit the individual's particular trading style.  The specialist will report and deliver vital feedback to the Chief Development Officer regarding process, product delivery, marketing, and product performance for the purpose of continuously improving selling activities and behaviors responsible for driving improved performance and results.    

Job Requirements

The ideal Schaeffer's product specialist...

  • Consistently meets and exceeds established monthly, quarterly, and annual individual sales goals
  • Conducts professional outbound and inbound communications via phone or email to newly assigned and existing customers.
  • Knows and effectively uses options industry terminology (especially various options strategies and their benefits/drawbacks) in order to properly educate customers on trading options.
  • Is able to work with clients with a wide range of familiarity with options trading and with Schaeffer's premium products
  • Is able to work with clients who have never purchased from Schaeffer's before and also with clients who have been purchasing from Schaeffer's for 10+ years
  • Participates in ongoing sales training in order to maintain continuous improvement
  • Maintains positive and effective relationships with co-workers
  • Works within the guidelines and in compliance with all regulations as presented to them by Schaeffer's, including but not limited to: ethical sales guidelines, securities laws, and rules to protect Schaeffer's Publisher's exemption status from SEC regulation
  • Is comfortable working with scripts when speaking with clients
  • Has proven to be a team player and is comfortable sharing successes and learning experiences with co-workers
  • Is comfortable working in a fast-paced sales environment
  • Has strong closing ability and is able to reach sales agreements with strategic and persistent work
  • Is a proven leader, preferably with some type of management experience
  • Accurately and efficiently uses Microsoft Dynamics CRM
  • Provides feedback and ideas for targeted marketing efforts
