Job Description

Hondros College is  seeking an Accounting Manager, Finance for the West Chester Campus!

 

The Accounting Manager, Finance is responsible for managing the Month-End/Quarter-End/Year-End close process; including the distribution of the financial packet.  Additionally, the Accounting Manager, Finance is responsible for supporting the CFO with annual budgets and financial forecasting. 

 

Major Responsibility Areas:      

Closing Process

Duties:

  • Manages the month-end/quarter-end/year-end close processes.
  • Responsible for sales and receipts reconciliation and posting to the general ledger.
  • Responsible for reviewing monthly journal entries.
  • Responsible for monthly bank reconciliation for Operating Account.
  • Researches, analyzes and reports variances to budget.
  • Preparation of the final monthly financial package.
  • Update monthly fixed assets software.

 

Budget and Forecasting

Duties:

 

  • Assists with the completion of the Annual Budget.
  • Assists with financial forecasting as needed throughout the year.

 

Compliance

Duties:

 

  • Assists with Sarbanes Oxley compliance requirements.
  • Assists with the financial compliance audits.
  • Interacts with internal and external auditors.
  • Various regulatory annual financial reporting requirements including FISAP, State Board, Ohio Board of Regents, ACICS, IPEDS and Department of Education.

Other

Duties:

 

  • Executes campus-based funds process
  • Monthly reconciliation of campus-based funds.
  • Partner with Financial Aid to monitor and ensure compliance of allotted financial aid award.
  • Complete FISAP for campus-based funds.
  • Interacts with American Public University System (APUS) staff at all levels as required.
  • Completes special projects as assigned.
  • Regularly communicates with CFO on status of projects.
  • Provides suggestions for process improvements and issues resolution.
  • Assists other associates in the Finance department as needed.
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining Accounting Policies and Procedures.
  • Some weekend and extended hours may be required.

Job Requirements

The following job requirements represent minimum levels of education, experience and competencies/abilities needed to perform this job successfully:

 

Education:

 

BA/BS degree in Accounting/Finance or related field or equivalent education and experience.

 

Experience:

 

  • Experience working in an Accounting/Finance Department in a management position.
  • Experience working for a public company
  • A thorough understanding of SOX compliance
  • Experience with Windows based applications, specifically Microsoft Excel.

 

Competencies:

 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Organization and time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Strong attention to details

 

Physical and Mental Requirements:

 

Physical Requirements:

 

This job requires normal physical mobility, including the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. Normal hand-eye coordination; arm, hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp and lift up to 40 pounds, is also required.

 

Mental Requirements:

 

This job requires the ability to read, recall, write and understand information. This job also requires the ability to work under moderate pressure and to manage multiple tasks concurrently.

 

Environment:

 

This job is normally performed in a clean, well-lighted, heated and cooled office area/classroom.

 

Travel Requirement:

 

Intermittent Travel - 25%
