Job Description

 

Responsible for developing and executing strategic and tactical market development plans  to meet the organizational objectives as defined by the Divisions and Product Units, as well as in support of the North America Market and Segment Plans.

 

The Market Manager will help facilitate sales growth in the assigned Market(s) of Defense, Aerospace, and Space by providing guidance to the Sales and Application Engineering teams relevant to specific market segments, end use equipment types, customers, and marketing channels that provide the best opportunities for meeting or exceeding the relevant product line and revenue plans.

This position will work closely with the Sales Organization as required to support the timely development of the Lead Customers critical to the launch of new products or our market expansion and diversification plans.

 

  • Identify and select opportunities, programs, and industry initiatives that fit strategic target markets and products.
  • Monitor key customer projects within the HUBER+SUHNER group and coordinate between Sales and Divisions as required to assure continued progress in support of Market Plans.
  • Support market analysis on new products, new markets and developments in the industry.
  • Identify product and logistics needs for potential markets.
  • Develop tactical market plans that support the business development objectives for specific Markets, segments, or Product Lines.
  • Supports company and product promotions at exhibitions.
  • Identify, suggest, and manage  appropriate Marketing Communications activities and channels.
  • Assist Application Engineering in performing customer and sales training on HUBER+SUHNER capabilities, products and respective technologies, as well as informing them of  business and technological trends in the market..
  • Develop relationships with the key or lead accounts identified as strategic to success in the assigned markets.
  • Manage the cross-functional activities required to develop, and produce complex proposals for presentation to customers.
  • Works closely with the Field Sales and Application Engineering Organizations , and provides input, in several capacities:
    • Identifying key targeted prospect customers in support of business development plans
    • Prospect and develop relationships with potential new Customers or Partners
    • Management of key projects, NSI's, and other activities requiring close cooperation with other H+S facilities or partners and the customers
    • Developing and providing input into territory sales plans relevant to the assigned market. To help keep the sales team focused on the assigned market as required to execute sales and marketing plans and achieve growth.
    • Developing annual forecasts and sales budgets
  • Develop and maintain a close working relationship with Market Management, Applications Engineering, and Product Management in Switzerland.
  • Maintains a current view of our sales funnel and status of the top opportunities in the market.
  • Adhere to all regulations and guidelines contained in the Global Management System.

Job Requirements

Essential requirements of skills, experience, physical requirements etc.:

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or related field.  Advanced degree or MBA preferable

Experience:

  • 3-5 years relevant industry experience.
  • 3-5 years Sales or Field Application Engineering experience involving direct customer contact in the Space and Defense market

Skills:

  • Solid communication and presentation skills.
  • Solid understanding of  the product technologies of relevance to the responsible markets
  • Solid market knowledge and marketing skills
  • Articulate speaker and writer.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to research and analyze market trends and programs, via Web, third parties, and direct customer and industry contact.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and nurture executive management relationships and work effectively with other company business units, both regionally and globally.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills. 
  • Significant track record of accomplishments in space and defence technology-related markets, ideally to include some additional H+S markets such as test & measurement, medical,  energy, automation, and communications.

  • Ability to travel as required in support of position objectives.
  • Self-motivated and ability to prioritize tasks. Focuses on the directives and objectives assigned.
  • Must work well in a matrix derived, team environment.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to perform problem analysis and problem resolution.
  • Ability to work individually as well as part of a remote team.
