Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY - Reporting to the District Manager, this position supervises the daily activities of employees and processes at  transfer stations, MRF or hauling company worksites.  Incumbent will ensure the highest standards of environmental safety and operational excellence.  This position is instrumental in establishing and maintaining cost management within the location while managing to improve performance and productivity.



  • Performs wide variety of tasks with extensive creativity and latitude.
  • Minimize operational costs while maximizing productivity; maintaining safety and environment compliance;
  • Accurately track employee and vehicle time and usage.
  • Assist in creating a positive team-oriented environment through employee development and motivation; promote high degree of morale, productivity and efficiency. 
  • Act as liaison – where necessary – for community relationships
  • Assist Division Management in budget process as required.  Meet all financial review dates and District directed programs within designated time frames.
  • Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of physical property through inspections and preventive maintenance programs with route supervisors and employees.
  • Lead and direct work of direct reports – ensuring all are in compliance with standards of interviewing and hiring procedures. 
  • Conduct and/or attend/interact in periodic safety meetings to maintain favorable working relationships
  • Update and/or submit required reports within specific time frames.
  • Interact with inter district departments - such as Accounts Receivable, Customer Service and Sales concerning changes in customer service.  Coordinates with Maintenance/Shop concerning vehicle repairs.

Job Requirements


  • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Four (4) year Bachelor’s degree – or seven (7) years of work experience within the waste industry in lieu of a degree -  four (4) years must have been in a supervisory/management capacity
  • Valid Florida CDL preferred with clean driving record
  • Prior safety inspection/OBA experience – preferred
  • Will rely on extensive work experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals including working knowledge of OSHA 
  • Transfer and MRF Operator Certification preferred 
  • Must be familiar with a variety of operational concepts, practices and procedures – Must be proficient in Microsoft Office – Excel – Word
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills    
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) language skills preferred
