Data Analyst OQPS – Efficiency Metrics (#13160)

Based in Albany this individual will assist senior staff in the New York State Department of Health, Office of Quality and Patient Safety in implementing, monitoring and evaluating health reform initiatives with a primary focus data analysis.  Duties will include, but are not limited to: serve as liaison between internal and external stakeholders including hospitals, other health facilities and insurance carriers submitting all payer data used for population based health initiatives and efficiency metrics; conduct technical research; provide technical assistance; review & analyze data & write reports. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Exceptional analytical & communication (both written and verbal) skills.
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment.
  • Proficient in the use of standard office technology & basic Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, & PowerPoint.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate’s degree in Statistics, Epidemiology, Health Services Research, Healthcare Administration Management, Public Administration, required.  Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, preferred.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of demonstrated progressive work history, required.
  • Experience with SAS or SQL & SPARCS, preferred.
  • Experience working with large data sets, particularly those involving health care population, claims, demographics or utilization, preferred.
  • Experience with or knowledge of New York State’s Medicaid program, populations or service-delivery systems, preferred.
