Job Description


A global specialty Chemicals Company located in the Royal Oak, MI area is seeking a Purchasing Manager to join their expanding team. This is a DIRECT HIRE, full time opportunity. The requirements for this position are:


Purchasing Manager - $70 – $90K - Depending on experience:


  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably with a major in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering  or a related field
  • Minimum 3 years experience in chemical purchasing for a manufacturing environment
  • Must have strong Microsoft Excel, Word and MRP software (SAP)
  • Responsible for the effective purchasing of chemicals, containers, and substrates used in production.
  • Must determine proper, approved sources of supply for the most economical purchases and develop new sources of supply as necessary
  • Tracking changing material, market conditions, and advise management on current trends in prices, availability of materials and make necessary recommendations
  • Contract negotiations
  • Supplier relations, alternatives and partnerships
  • Coordinating across the organization with other functions and units
  • Tracking global economic trends and raw material markets for their impact on sourcing strategies
  • Evaluating suppliers on their quality, on-time deliveries and environmental status
  • Consulting on negotiate agreements for suppliers, services and equipment
  • Monday-Friday; approximately 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM; additional hours necessary as workload and business needs arise


The pay rate is dependent on your work history and may go higher for highly qualified candidates. This is a full time, potential career opportunity, with room for advancement.
