Job Description





The position of Warehouse Manager is to make sure that all warehouse activities i.e. shipping and receiving, equipment maintenance, and staff supervision are performed in a safe and efficient manner.  The expectation of the Warehouse Manager will be to lead, supervise and motivate personnel under their supervision, maintain current policies and procedures and to make improvements wherever necessary. The most common expectations of this position will be to:


  • Maintain a high level of ethics and lead by example.
  • Make daily plans for all subordinates and provide guidance and follow-up to assure expectations are obtained.
  • Communicate with the other departments to assure clear communication.
  • Hold pre-shift meetings to make sure that all yard personnel are fully aware of the day’s expectations.
  • Responsible for hiring and termination of all yard personnel as required.
  • Train and certify all forklift operators
  • Train and test all yard personnel to assure that they are knowledgeable of all products, processes and procedures.
  • Take disciplinary action as required
  • Make sure that the yard is kept maintained at all times.
    • This includes maintaining a yard To- Do list on a daily basis.
    • Receive materials as per the established procedures.
    • Maintain an inventory of safety supplies and general supplies for the warehouse, as well as the office.
    • Make sure maintenance is performed on equipment and facility, when required.
      • This includes maintaining a maintenance schedule for all equipment.
      • Work with vendors to assure that all equipment is maintained in a safe condition. This also includes making sure that preventative maintenance is performed as required.
      • Greet customers and fulfill orders as required.
        • This may involve the operation of a forklift or other lifting equipment as required.
        • Plan and conduct monthly safety meetings.
        • Monitor the daily activities of all persons under his/her supervision.
        • Responsible for the hiring of all warehouse personnel.
          •  This also includes selecting, training, and monitoring temp to perm employees and day labor.
          • Fully knowledgeable of all Receiving procedures and Inventory processing procedures in Steel Plus.
          • Assist in taking physical inventory and cycle counting of inventory.
          • Communicate with the Traffic Coordinator in an effort to assure orders are ready in time for shipment.
          • Fill in for the Traffic Coordinator and Inventory Control when they are out of the office.
          • Follow up & control daily absence and over time
          • Manage stock control, which includes but not limited to the restocking of pull stock racks and transferring of materials between warehouses.







Job Requirements



  • College Degree
  • Has held some type of position where they have performed manual labor. This could be during the summer in high school, while attending college, etc. Working in a construction related field a plus.
  •  2-3 years of supervisory experience
    • Respectful to subordinates
    • Personally responsible for staffing

  • Computer literacy (Excel, Word, and some type of ERP( Plus)
  • Bilingual a plus
