Job Description

This is an engineering level position. Temporary to Permanent Position.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
  • Develop cost effective manufacturing process for new part numbers, as defined by customer specifications. 
  • Coordinate with other ME's in the development of processes requiring interdepartmental manufacturing processes. 
  • Interpret drawings and customer specifications designated to manufacture products. 
  • Interface with Planning and Quality departments in development of manufacturing process, and Routers. 
  • Develop process drawings, and In Process (IP) features required to efficiently, and effectively manufacture parts. 
  • Design manufacturing tooling, and develop tooling router associated with process. 
  • Develop CNC setup sheets and write CNC programs required to make tools, fixtures, gages and product. 
  • Identify, and/or design cutting tools required to perform machining operations. 
  • Identify characteristic accountability by operation. 
  • Monitor existing manufacturing processes, and modify to enhance efficiency as new concepts and technology allow. 
  • Review input from manufacturing that may improve process, or remove potential for errors. 
  • Identify, and submit design change requests to customers, in coordination with Quality. 
  • Provide support and guidance to inspection department and manufacturing floor. 
  • Provide technical support to materials and estimating group. 
  • Assist in training of other employees on any machine or operation. 
  • Be able to access, and be familiar with Client's Quality Management System (QMS). 
  • Disposition Discrepancy Reports (DR's) per QMS. 
  • Participate in Client's Preventive & Corrective Action Processes as required. 
  • Comply with rules as stated in Client's Employee Handbook. 

    Job Requirements

       

    SKILL REQUIRED INCLUDING CONCURRENT TRAINING:
    . 
    • Proficient in Unigraphics NX 7.5 for Mills, Lathes and EDM machines.

    • Experience with Autocad and Mastercam also desirable.

    • Ability to read and interpret purchase order requirements, drawings and specifications.

    • Above average knowledge of Geometry, and ability to generate CAD/CAM files required to develop manufacturing processes and CNC programs. 

    • Thorough understanding of Geometric Tolerance standards. 

    • Production planning skills necessary to produce manufacturing plans. 

    • Knowledge of systems utilized to perform job tasks, concurrent training to keep abreast of upgrades and additions to system capabilities. 

    • Overall knowledge of Client's QMS and specific knowledge of work instructions applicable to engineering and manufacturing. 

    • Interpersonal and communication skills to allow for professional written, and verbal interaction between all levels of Client's management, and customer technical contacts. 

    • Interpersonal skills to be able to communicate program operation to machinist and operators. 

    • Complete annual training, and any other training designated by V.P. of Operations to demonstrate competence to perform the job.
