Job Description

Ironwood Physicans strive to be comprehensive care facilities providing a full spectrum of services to patients. Our state of the art facilities are the first of their kind in the Phoenix area, housing a full staff to provide leading edge, quality care in Medical Oncology along with Radiation Oncology, Urology and ancillary support services.

Ironwood Cancer & Research Centers is currently looking to fill two Medical Assistant positions at our  Glendale/Phoenix Office

  • Prepping patient charts
  • Prepare and sanitize all exam rooms for the day as well as in between each patient
  • Room patients, complete & record vital signs and applicable patient assessment items
  • Accept and return phone calls
  • Assist Injection MA as needed
  • Process referrals as needed
  • Call patients with results as directed by provider
  • Monitors Rx folder
  • Sets up order, transfusions, direct admin to hospital, phlebotomy, etc.
  • Charts appropriate notes into MOSAIQ
  • Be alert to equal work distribution amongst peers
  • Enroll patients in drug replacement programs
  • Handles physician requests and co ordinates special testing assignments
  • Assist coworkers in any area to provide quality patient care
  • Maintains a professional, team oriented, positive attitude
  • And any other duties as assigned

Job Requirements


  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 3 years experience working as a Medical Assistant.  
  • Medical Oncology experience preferred.
  • Graduation from an accredited medical assisting school. Proof of certification will be required.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA rules & regulations.
  • Knowledge of chemotherapy related drugs and supplies utilized, preferred.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic testing and radiation procedures, preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and writing communication skills.
  • Knowledge of CPT, ICD-9, HCPCS coding.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Internet.
  • Bilingual a plus, but not required.

  • Stand: Remaining on one’s feet in an upright position for up to 6 hours
  • Walking: Moving about on foot.
  • Lifting 10-25 lbs. : Raising or lowering an object from one level to another
  • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word to impart oral information to clients or to the public.
