Ashley Furniture HomeStore of Metro NY/NJ is seeking a Regional HR Generalist to join their team!!!!


Are you high energy?  Thorough, organized and focused on Delighting Your Customer(s)? Do you have at least five years of corporate HR Generalist experience? Are at least two years of your HR experience from within the retail industry with 100 employees or more? If so, then this may be the opportunity for you!

Position Overview:


The Generalist will maintain and coordinate all administrative functions of Human Resources related duties at the professional level including all duties related to on boarding/recruiting, all aspects of company benefits, heavy employee relations, progressive discipline, employee review process, employee recognition, and payroll.  This individual will act as a representative of the company in all aspects of work.  They will embody Ashley’s core company values of honesty and integrity in all decisions. 

  • All aspects of Employee Relations, including availability to listen to employee suggestions, feedback or grievances and provide an accurate and timely response, assure proper use of the progressive discipline process, and coaching through conflict resolution.
  • Assisting with all recruiting and staffing needs

  • Performing reference and background checks on potential candidates & extending offers for employment

  • All aspects of the onboarding process, including new hire orientation, obtaining paperwork, time and attendance set up, follow up with new hires on introductory period (30, 60, 90)

  • Serving as a resource for managers on policy, procedure and other process matters

  • Identifying and planning development strategies for internal talent and training

  • Generating and leading change initiatives with a positive and enthusiastic approach

  • Coaching, encouraging and/or disciplining employees as needed

  • Performing and managing disciplinary investigations when needed

  • All aspects related to unemployment claims, COBRA paperwork, worker’s compensation, personal and medical leave

  • Manage and coordinate all aspects of benefits administration to include open enrollment periods, benefits meetings, ensuring and tracking accuracy of invoices for payment, and communicating benefit information to employees.

  • Assisting with special projects as required


  • Ability to effectively and relationally work well with others. A positive attitude & ability to maintain constructive working relationships.
  • Intermediate knowledge of the principles and practices of human resources
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with other management staff, employees, and the general public. 
  • Assist in all aspects of the Human Resources Department & participates in anything necessary to enhance overall operations of the company. 
  • Ability to work independently & in a team, effectiveness & relational competence.
  • Ability to be flexible& adaptable to ever changing priorities.  Embraces change, maintains a positive attitude, & a customer, company & employee focus.
  • Strong organizational skills & an attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work in a fast paced & results driving environment.  Must have strong interpersonal communication, people, & problem solving skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience.
  • Displays best judgment at all times, including displaying willingness to make decisions, exhibits sound and accurate judgment and makes timely decisions.

Job Requirements

•        At least five (5) years of corporate HR Generalist experience

·         At least two years of HR experience from within a firm with 100 employees or more

·         Strong MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

·         Flexibility to travel between retail locations in NY/NJ up to 95% of the time.

·         Flexibility in work schedule based on business needs (Monday – Friday, Tuesday – Saturday work week)
