School Based Mental Health Therapist (Social Services)

We are currently seeking a School Based Mental Health Therapist to provide exceptional outpatient therapeutic intervention services within the Baltimore City public school system. This position reports to the Director of Programs and provides direct services to students ranging from Head Start to High School. These services include intake assessments, individual / family / group therapy and crisis interventions to assigned clients.

The ideal candidate must possess the following:
  • Masters’ degree from an accredited University or College
  • Be licensed in the State of Maryland to provide services as LGPC, LCPC, LGSW or LCSW-C
  • At least 1 year of supervised experience in a mental health setting
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintaining regular contact with the parent / guardian of each client; completing master treatment plans, treatment plan updates and managed care authorizations
  • Attending regularly scheduled staff meetings at the clinic and Student Services Team meetings at the school
  • Providing consultation for school staff regarding issues including classroom observation and appropriate service determination
  • Assisting in the development of Parent Education curriculum, provides training and support for parents; and assisting the school in organizing activities
  • Providing appropriate In service training to school staff; developing support groups for students as needed
  • Participating in the collection of necessary information and student outcomes data to be used for monitoring the overall performance and effectiveness of services provided
  • Furnishing required reports to DHMH, legal system and other involved agencies
  • Participating in the collection of necessary information and student outcomes data to be used for monitoring the overall performance and effectiveness of services provided
  • Participating in after-hours call schedule for the clinic; providing complete and timely documentation to support services rendered
  • Evaluating the impact of therapeutic interventions upon the therapeutic milieu.
  • Facilitating groups
  • Performing individual and family therapy
  • Providing patients with education and instruction on Advance Directives
  • Maintaining 70% direct service requirement
  • Other duties as assigned
 
Additional Requirements:
  • Daily and/or weekly home visits to clients’ homes
  • Use of own vehicle for visits to clients’ homes
  • Valid driver’s license
