Job Description

Mortgage Bankruptcy Specialist  Bankruptcy Specialist  will manage a portfolio of 1000 – 1300 on average of bankruptcy loans according to investor, state, government agency and bankruptcy code guidelines by:

  • Ensuring all cash items are applied per requirements and per the terms of loan documents and that all ledgers are in balance and accurate.
  • The Bankruptcy Specialist respond to phone calls, written correspondence from all parties involved in the bankruptcy process.
  • Read and interpret all legal documents-pleadings motions, dockets, loan documents etc, as well as borrower trustee, investor and attorney correspondence. From this reading, determine when attorney action, advise or interpretation is needed while following department and RESPA guidelines.
  • The Bankruptcy Specialist will verify critical dates and review electronic court docket for updated case status.
  • The Bankruptcy Specialist will process new filings and close loans out of bankruptcy to ensure that BAC's interests are protected as well as processes are continued appropriately and timely upon termination of the stay. This includes determining bankruptcy status, utilizing internal department applications, and moving loans to the next stage in the process.

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • Experience in Bankruptcy and/or residential mortgage processing experience. 
  • Ability to analyze work outputs to Federal & State Bankruptcy Codes and guidelines (Chptr. 7, 11, 12 & 13)
  • Experience in balancing and reconciling funds from mortgagor and trustee
  • Strong Organizational and communication skills
  • Computer skills (validation through testing required)

Desired Skills:

  • Minimum 2 years mortgage, 2 year bankruptcy experience
