Area Sales Manager - Central Region

Job Description

Allison Transmission, Inc. (Allison) is the premier global provider of commercial duty automatic transmissions and hybrid propulsion systems. Allison products are specified by over 250 of the world’s leading vehicle manufacturers and are used in many market sectors including bus, refuse, fire, construction, distribution, military and specialty applications. Regional headquarters with dedicated support staff are located in China, the Netherlands, Brazil, India and Japan. Allison Transmission is currently looking for an Area Sales Manager - Central Region in St. Louis, MO.

 

Position Description

  • Development and execution of sales plans and activities designed to increase demand for Allison products
  • Identification and pursuit of incremental sales volume in targeted markets
  • Become value added resource for customers, OEM dealers, and distributors through training, support, and vehicle specification
  • Development and execution of sales presentations to dealers, distributors, and end-user customers
  • Completion of vehicle application analysis to insure proper product utilization and optimization
  • Management and implementation of key growth initiatives and programs
  • Provide a high level of customer support thereby influencing customer enthusiasm for Allison products
  • Development of relationships and growth opportunities with channel partners
  • Planned continuous improvement of Allison product knowledge and the advantages of Allison products to customers.
  • The geography for this ASM will include Illinois (south of I-70),  Eastern Missouri, Northeastern Arkansas, Western Tennessee, and Mississippi.
  • The ASM will reside centrally located within the geographic territory.

Job Requirements

Skills Required:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
  • Exceptional communication skills (verbal & written)
  • Previous sales/customer support experience or Allison related experience
  • Demonstrated high level of interpersonal skills
  • Highly self-motivated
  • Ability to demonstrate functional and technical excellence
  • Ability to work collaboratively across all functions to achieve sales objectives and goals
  • Ability to travel on a regular basis for company business
  • Ability to build valued business relationships
  • Organized, detail oriented, and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident


Skills Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or Engineering
  • 5 or more years in the transportation industry
  • 5 or more years of sales experience
  • Thorough understanding of Allison  product offerings
  • Proven record of exceeding sales targets
  • Experience selling in the transportation industry
