Immediate need for a Medical Front Desk professional!
 
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: A non-exempt position, in which the employee greets, instructs, directs, and schedules patients and visitors.
 
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports directly to the Patient Services Manager.
 
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None.
 
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Greet and assist all patients who enter the practice.
2. Check in patients as they come in for their appointments. Assists walk-ins in scheduling new appointments.
3. Enter any required information in to the system regarding a patient once they have checked in.
4. Scan in patients' insurance card and driver's license.
5. Responsible for monitoring and correcting physician schedules each day.
6. Responsible for verifying health insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid.
7. Distribute prescriptions, x-rays, records, physicians' notes, etc.
8. Responsible for scheduling appointments for physicians within the practice.
9. Collects disability forms and money associated with the disability forms.
10. Assists patients with prescriptions which have not yet been requested.
11. Check out patients as they exit from their appointments.
12. At the end of the day close out receipts and make sure they are balanced.
13. Ensure all phone calls are answered in a polite and courteous manner.
14. Distributes incoming faxes to appropriate location.
15. Maintain clinic and patient confidentiality.
16. Perform other various tasks and work as requested.
 
EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent.
 
EXPERIENCE: At least a 2 years background in a medical setting. Also previous experience with Allscripts a plus.
 
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:
 
Knowledge:
1. Knowledge of medical office procedures.
2. Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation to type patient information.
 
Skill:
1. Skill in operating a computer and photocopy machine.
2. Skill in greeting patients and answering the telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner.
Ability:
1. Ability to speak clearly and concisely.
2. Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
3. Ability to sort and file materials correctly.
4. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public.

Job Requirements

At least 2 years medical office experience at a front desk.

Allscripts knowledge a plus.

Positive references from previous employers.

Clean criminal background check and negative drug test.
