Plastic Materials Engineer

Job Description

  • Coordinate and lead all new material and processing advancements
  • Develop technical road maps supporting strategic goals of the plastics division – this includes:  thermoplastics and additive development, processing technologies, secondary finishing (i.e., chrome, decoration, painting), jointing and secondary operations and quality advancements (i.e., surface detection, post molding protocols)
  • Work closely with product development and sales engineering teams for best practices, material selection and problem solving
  • Interface with customer Plastic Engineers to drive material specifications and call outs
  • Support manufacturing plants on targeted start-up projects and problem solving
  • Manage intellectual property activity

Job Requirements

  • Engineering degree in plastics is required
  • Five years of experience in the injection molding industry
  • Up to date knowledge in materials & processes related to injection molded plastics
  • Strong ability to strategically plan and manage multiple projects
  • Excellent communication and relationship skills with both internal and external customers
  • Excellent teamwork skills
