Shipping & Receiving (San Luis Obispo)

compensation: $15/hour
Description

The incumbent in this position performs the following duties: Assembles orders and prepares goods for shipment; Records shipment data, including weight, charges, and space availability; Completes shipping reports; Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures required to effectively perform the duties of a Shipping Clerk. The Shipping Clerk relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job and works under immediate supervision. This position may be required to work overtime periodically. This Shipping Clerk reports to the Customer Service Administrator.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND Responsibilities:



Assures orders and shipping quantities match picking documents through careful audit of said documents.
Assists in resolving any discrepancies.
Helps with or complete special projects at the discretion of Supervisor.
Assists and evaluates needs with shipping points, services, weights and freight permits, and other information needed.
Initiates, answers and documents tracer inquiries when requested via email and/or fax.
Maintains shipping station is in working order and stocked with materials
Assembles packaging materials and packages products per instructions, in preparation for shipment
Enters data pertaining to domestic and international shipments into the company's ERP system and into the shipping systems of commercial freight carriers
Monitors the supply of packaging materials and requisitions additional supplies as required
Confirms physical shipment of goods and facilitates tracking of packages
Coordinates with carriers and freight forwarders to schedule pick-up of goods
Identifies errors on packing lists and invoices and corrects them
In conjunction with supervisor will be responsible for all outbound freight to comply with warehouse operations.
Using a warehouse management system prepares accurate bills of lading for outbound freight.
Ensures that drivers depart with appropriate paperwork.
Ensures the accuracy of all shipping documents by strict adherence to standard operating procedures.
Enters information into warehouse management system and maintains all data and records relative to shipping activities.

    ESSENTIAL SKILLS:


    Intermediate computer skills and Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications as well as experience with UPS and Fed Ex software


    Ability to operate office equipment (i.e. Fax machine, copier/scanner, 10 key calculator, computer keyboard)
