The Workforce1 Healthcare Career Center is partnering with non-profit organization to assist them in their hiring for the following job opportunities:

Position Title: Housing Specialist

Job Overview Description:
  • The Housing Specialist will assure housing readiness of clients by implementing appropriate training and developing permanent housing options in both the public and private sectors

 

  • Develop and facilitate client workshops and individual sessions on skills and information necessary to acquire and maintain independent permanent housing

 

  • Conduct housing eligibility assessments for all applicants.Maintain and update listings of permanent affordable housing

 

  • Requires excellent organizational skills and profiency with basic accounting and budget management

 

  • Track placements and conduct follow up of clients placed into permanent housing

 

  • Responsibilities also include creating and maintaining a housing database linking tenants to apartments

 

  • Requires excellent skills in oral, written and interpersonal communications as well as appropriate empathy for clients

 

  • Proficiency with using Microsoft program. Database experience (HMIS) strongly preferred.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in Science preferred.

Certification: Certificate of Occupancy Specialist preferred.

Professional Experience: The position requires a minimum of one to two years of related placement services for low-income and/or homeless population. Knowledge of the federal guidelines for the public and private housing required. New York State Real Estate licensure is a plus.
