We are currently seeking a motivated Electrical Engineer with excellent design skills to join the Electrical team within the Facilities Division of FST.  Opportunity may evolve into a future leadership position within the Division.  As an experienced senior level engineer, this candidate must have the depth of expertise to manage, direct, mentor and supervise the day-to-day work of staff of engineers. 


The majority of the work involves electrical design for new and/or renovated facilities.    Candidate will plan, develop, coordinate, and direct a number of Electrical engineering and/or multi-disciplined projects.  Depending on workload and ongoing projects, position will require a majority of time on design work and the balance of time on project management, business development and administrative activities, as required.  Will also assist the chief electrical engineer as needed.


Position will include Project Management responsibility, including establishing and management of project budget/cost controls and technical responsibilities.  Typically will be responsible for report writing, project client deliverables and project quality control.  Requires participation in presentations, external client contacts and project meetings.  Position requires a solid self-starter with the ability to bring new work into the firm.  Keeps abreast of new methods and developments with the industry.

Job Requirements

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering required
  • 15 plus years experience required
  • PE (Electrical) required
  • Must have experience with public sector projects
  • Must possess good technical and engineering design/planning skills, computer and financial/project management skills
  • Very strong verbal, written, presentation, supervisory and interpersonal skills a must
  • Must be experienced in design of power infrastructure, and power distribution for horizontal and vertical public facilities
  • Must be experienced in design of 15 kV, 5 KV and 600 volt and below electrical systems including sizing and specifying emergency and standby generator systems
  • Must have a strong background and understand of the National Electrical Code, the Massachusetts Electrical Code, Life Safety Code NFPA 101, and the National Fire Alarm Code NFPA 72 and an understanding of the International Building Code
  • Required computer skills include MSOffice, Auto CAD, and electrical load calculations
  • Continuing education in project management and financial management/technical seminars/courses expected
  • Participation in industry organizations and societies is expected
  • Design of Experience with Water / Wastewater Plants and Treatment Facilities Waterfront Structures Electrical Infrastructure Advantageous
  • General Knowledge with Lighting Systems Design, Fire Alarm, Telecom Systems, Data Systems, SCADA and Alternative Energy  a plus
  • Experience with Sustainable Design, Energy Audits, Alternative Energy, Commissioning and LEED AP certification a plus
  • Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering a plus
