Job Responsibilities and Requirements:
Experienced legal secretary needed for a challenging and fast-paced bankruptcy, corporate and litigation position in a growing Chicago office of a large Midwest law firm. Candidates must be fluent in Spanish (both verbal and written) and be able to translate legal documents from Spanish to English and English to Spanish.
Candidates must have at least 5 years’ experience in a law firm or legal department; litigation experience; excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be proactive in their responsibilities and able to work independently; be able to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints; and be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and organized. Other required skills include typing speed of 65+ WPM, proficient computer capabilities (including MS Office Products plus Styles and Schemes), advanced formatting, and strong editing. Excel and Power Point experience preferred.
Responsibilities include, among other things, handling a heavy billing and administrative workload (including expense reports and international billing), translating documents, filing and e-filing court documents in both state and federal courts, handling discovery requests and responses, preparing correspondence and other documents, travel arrangements, scheduling, and interacting and assisting with demanding clients.
