Collections Specialist

Job Description

  • Responsible for collection of submitted claims, including research of denials and completion of adjustments in an accurately and timely manner.
  • Verifies that payments received are correct
  • Manage CPR+ claim collections and appeals in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Participate, when required, in end of month closing process.
  • Communicate with supervisor with suggestions for improvement of processes.
  • Demonstrate an ability to prioritize, multitask and utilize time efficiently
  • Demonstrates proficiency with software applications used by the company
  • Demonstrates the ability to clearly, accurately and concisely document notes in system per company guidelines
  • Effectively identify and communicate to supervisor when assistance is needed (including, but not limited to system function, training, etc.)
  • Proficiency in the knowledge of services offered by the company
  • Observes legal and ethical guidelines for safeguarding patient and company confidentiality (HIPAA)
  • Understands and provides exceptional customer service to clients, patients, and payers.
  • Complete understanding of confidentiality with respect to Company proprietary information as well as information concerning patient/client care; complying with all federal and state laws as apply to confidentiality of protected health information (PHI) and electronic protected health information (EPHI); and following HIPAA guidelines regarding readily identifiable protected health information
  • Other duties/tasks as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Comparable work experience; DME/Infusion medical billing experience preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of HCPC coding and a background in medical terminology preferred.
  • Must have strong communication skills, both written and verbal; must be able to articulate and communicate to the patients and payers.
  • Excellent telephone etiquette.
  • Strong computer skills a must; CPR+ helpful
  • Exhibits a professional, positive, courteous, respectful and helpful attitude to clients, co-workers, and management team.
  • Gives high priority to client satisfaction and customer needs
  • Understands and achieves team and individual goals as determined by supervisors.
  • Promotes company culture by adhering to all policies and procedures
  • Adapts to and demonstrates the ability to deal with frequent changes in the work environment
  • Accepts constructive criticism and makes changes to accommodate the need
  • Is a self starter and takes initiative to learn
