Operations/Production Manager (Plastic Automotive)

Operations/Production Manager (Plastic Automotive)

Job Description

    Operations Manager( Automotive Trim)

    MUST HAVE PLASTIC AUTOMOBILE PARTS

    Metro Detroit, MI

    $80,000 - $95,000

Excellent, growing company with proven track record of promoting their people.  They are a leading material solution provider to automotive interior trim manufacturers. This position is open due to internal promotion of a person we placed 3 years ago.  Location is NE of the Detroit metro area.

Operations Manager will report to the Plant Manager and will be in charge of all the floor operations, managing 3 shifts.  Will have 3 direct reports (Shift Supervisors) and 53 indirect reports.  Company culture is very entrepreneurial and hands-on so this will be a working manager who will likely spend 65%-70% on the floor.  Biggest quality needed for this position is strong leadership ability - the kind of manager who is dynamic, high energy and able to work closely with the plant employees at all levels; working with operators and shift supervisors to empower them to embrace changes as the plant grows and improves.  Someone able to initiate and "sell" improvements to processes and systems.  This will also be someone who is good with the metrics of plant efficiency; someone who knows how to work with the numbers and help translate them to the people on the floor. Looking for a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role, ideally coming up through engineering in a plant environment.

Person needs to come from a process intensive or continuous improvement area such as: plastics, extrusion, textiles or other. Someone who comes from strictly assembly or processes like metal stamping will not fit.  Also, people who have only had experience with very large companies may not transition well.

Company will relocate - but a simple relocation is highly preferred.  Will not buy house, assist with realtor costs, etc.

Benefits include:  Health, Dental, Flexible Spending Account, Life Insurance, AD&D, LTD, STD, 401K and 3 weeks’ vacation!
