Job Description

This position is posted for our Fremont, CA Recycling Plant but you must be open to relocation to any of the above 18 locations.  These positions require relocation flexibility as the anticipated location may not be the facility with the most urgent staffing need once the training and on-boarding process has been completed, so the successful applicant must be open to relocation.

 

 We are looking for entry-level, motivated sales representatives who have an interest in growing their career with a world-class manufacturing company and are in the beginning stages of their sales career. The Recycling Representative is responsible for ethically and professionally representing International Paper in the recycling marketplace, for maintaining existing customer accounts and developing new and profitable business for the Company.

 

 

These positions will report to the Plant General Manager (PGM), and are part of a team that includes the PGM, Recycling Reps, Sales Reps, Finance and the Plant Superintendent.

 

  • Develop a working knowledge of the industry and business operation.
  • Develop a complete and comprehensive knowledge of plant costs and be able to apply that knowledge through the use of account profitability analysis tools.
  • Acquire system knowledge and competence, both operational and informational, to perform all functions at a professional level.
  • Build new business and grow assigned territory by prospecting profitable recycling opportunities, attracting the interest of potential customers, networking to build a contact base, and following up with leads.
  • Provide insight for development of customer value propositions that will create market advantage.
  • Monitor fiber market pricing and adjust existing customer pricing as needed to maintain satisfactory margin.
  • Act as a liaison between the customer and the plant to ensure timely, accurate information flow between the two in order to maintain a positive long term relationship.
  • Develop a clear understanding of customer's business and critical requirements through frequent visits to customer’s facilities.
  • Handle customer complaints promptly and effectively.

As an entry level sales professional, the successful candidate will start with accounts of minimal complexity which are key to the facility and which provide profitable growth opportunity.  Upon successful integration with the company and understanding of the industry and business segment, the Recycling Representative will be expected to take on responsibility for territory management, including growing assigned target accounts and prospecting new accounts in the local market.


This position requires a college degree along with strong business knowledge, customer service and effective computer skills. Previous sales experience, preferably solution selling in a business to business environment would be considered an asset.  Greater than 50% of time will be spent preparing for and calling on customers.  Occasional overnight travel is required.   Candidates must have US Citizenship or a permanent US Work Visa.
