Job Description

Primary Job Duties: Applies systematic, disciplined, and quantifiable engineering and life cycle management techniques and processes to deliver integrated information systems hardware for mission-enabled or direct mission deployment and production. Performs technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. Evaluates, recommends, and may decide hardware and software technologies for hardware system solutions. Introduces new computer systems and technologies into current configurations for optimum information systems engineering functionality. Collaborates with customers, suppliers, and other domain experts such as networking, software and desktop personnel in the development and integration of hardware systems solutions. May program in a scripting language such as VBS, Perl or shell scripting or programming languages such as C or C++. May be responsible for hardware systems analysis, monitoring, troubleshooting, repair and recovery, disaster recovery, software installations, systems OS and software applications upgrades and security patches, performance tuning, hardware upgrades and resource optimization, maintenance of user accounts, and training users. -

Job Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: -Knowledge of information systems and lifecycle engineering processes such as requirements engineering, top-level functional designs, lifecycle cost analysis, risk analysis, quality engineering, configuration management, testing, reverse engineering, component integration, programming, and analysis. -Solid understanding of UNIX, LINUX, or Windows Server-based operating systems. -Strong skills in server-side application management. -Knowledge of software development methodologies, tools, and processes, including software development methodology frameworks; source code control; application development tools and techniques; database design, development, and management; programming languages; and component integration. -Knowledge of hardware and operating systems, including system architectures, network infrastructures, and client-server principles. -Knowledge of ongoing trends in the information systems hardware field and the ability to understand and work with new and emerging technologies such as virtual technologies and applications in cloud architectures. -Knowledge of hardware and software integration and testing. -Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. -Excellent verbal and written communication skills. -Effective communicator, presenter, and negotiator. -Ability to work closely with customers and suppliers, defining expectations and mutual responsibilities. Required: -Requires bachelor's degree in relevant discipline plus five or more years of experience; or master's degree in relevant discipline plus two or more years¿ experience; or doctorate in relevant discipline; or equivalent combination of education and experience. -Degree in engineering, computer science, or information technology (Bachelors or better) -Previous systems administration experience with UNIX/Linux operating systems -Ability to function in a dynamic, fast-paced, multi-disciplinary team -Excellent oral and written communication skills -Experience with networking protocols and configuration -Working knowledge of cyber-security technologies and best-practices Desired: Experience with Solaris operating system Solaris/Linux certifications (e.g. SCSA, RHCE) Experience working in datacenter environment Prior Government employment experience Previous experience working with a Government-sponsored 24x7 operations center
