System Support Specialist

Job Description

 

The System Support Specialist serves as the first line of technical and functional support for all Havertys Locations. This person should be well-versed in hardware such as PCs, printers, scanners etc., LAN, and troubleshooting problems. Familiarity with Havertys software is a plus.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Direct-level phone support to the Profit Centers, Warehouses, Credit, and Home Office.
  • Providing assistance with the automated store systems, hardware, LAN and communications.
  • Serving as a training specialist to the Profit Centers. This will require calls to the Profit Centers instructing them on the functionality of new enhancements to the system.
  • Utilizing help-desk software (Lotus Notes) to log-in problems and thoroughly follow them up until solved.
  • Technical support and problem troubleshooting. Will assist the Systems Support, LAN and Technical Support Managers with hardware and communication maintenance and upgrades as needed.
  • Participation in basic computer operations tasks, i.e. tape loading, copying, report printing, distribution, etc.
  • Advise IT co-workers and Management of problems that are beyond their expertise or are of a nature that others need to be aware of.

Job Requirements

Bachelors degree or a combination of education and a minimum of one year call center experience

One year of experience with PC hardware and software such as Lotus Notes and Microsoft Windows is highly desired

Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.

Ability to interact with people of all levels

Ability to work under pressure

Ability to multi-task

Good typing skills a plus

Willing to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Some travel may be required.
