Job Description

Glenmont Job Corps Academy is a leader in educational and vocational training as well as socialization skills to assist it's student population to succeed in the workplace.  We are looking for a Residential Advisor who can fill in through September for an employee on maternity leave.  The successful candidate will be considered for permanent employment, depending on available positions, at the end of the appointment.

  1. Maintains a safe, clean and orderly dorm by effectively controlling student behavior.
  2. Provides counseling and guidance to students in assigned dorm on attitude, behavior and inter-personal relationships with others.
  3. Monitors student activity in the dorm and ensure appropriate student behavior.
  4. May be asked to transport students to off-Center recreational and cultural activities and acts as chaperone, controlling student behavior.
  5. Maintains incident log and reports all unusual and critical incidents to superiors.
  6. Administers off-Center pass program.
  7. Directs students and may assist during maintenance and clean up of dorms and dorm areas.
  8. Ensures accountability of students in assigned dorm, conducting periodic bed checks.
  9. Performs dorm administrative functions.

    10.  Identifies students with adjustment problems and may refer to counseling as necessary.

    11.  Conduct daily room scores and document.


Job Requirements


High School diploma or GED required. Prefer two years of college with emphasis in Social Sciences and prior experience working with disadvantaged youth. Residential experience in group home or college dormitory setting preferred. Must possess valid in-State Driver’s License and meet Company insurability requirements.
