Job Description

The Ohio Valley Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. is looking for an experienced Training and Outreach Coordinator.

REPORTS TO:      Director of Education  

MAJOR FUNCTION:    Coordinate implementation of activities vital to training programs under the auspices of OVCEF in cooperation with designated committees, with backup and direction by the Director of Education. This position will additionally serve as a resource to and work in conjunction with our members to help meet their training and development needs.


  1. Coordinate, monitor and evaluate training activities at multiple sites; gather feedback and propose new activities/partners/locations for training.
  2. In coordination with Director of Education, promote and market the training programs in a positive and professional manner through creation of marketing materials and programs, participation in job and career fairs, interaction with current and potential customers, industry leaders, other associations, school administrators, and other ABC Chapters.
  3. Actively seek to grow participation in all programs with a focus on repeat revenue opportunities.
  4. Constantly strive to improve program quality.
  5. Effectively communicate with all stakeholders.
  6. Assist WORKS director in communication with and gathering information/data as needed regarding school progress, apprentices and employers.
  7. Develop class visitation and evaluation schedule; conduct course and instructor evaluations annually.
  8. Assure adequate lab facilities are included with all programs.
  9. Attend committee and/or board meetings as required.
  10. Solicit and maintain an adequate pool of qualified instructors.
  11. Monitor and track apprentice’s progress through the program.
  12. Attain Master Trainer certification and conduct NCCER-approved instructor training.
  13. Assist with any Local Craft Champions competition.
  14. Administer scholarship and grant programs for apprenticeship program.
  15. Assist Director of Education in development of annual training budget.
  16. Perform other duties as designated by the Director of Education and the President.
  17. Collaborates with membership organizations in the development and implementation of training programs to meet the needs of their organization.
  18. Analyze training needs to develop new training programs or modify and improve existing programs.
  19. Develop and organize training manuals, multimedia visual aids, and other educational materials.


Job Requirements


  1. Bachelor’s degree in a related field, will accept experience in place of degree.
  2. 5 years prior training experience.
  3. Excellent interpersonal communication skills and a level of professionalism for dealing with business owners and decision makers.
  4. Public speaking presentation skills.
  5. Strong attention to detail mindset.
  6. Technical expertise in all Microsoft Office products, with superior PowerPoint skillset.
  7. Strong project and time management skills. Must be a self-starter and have the ability to manage own performance effectively, plan and organize time and priorities to achieve business results.
