Job Description


• Assist in developing project scope, budgets, schedules, and staffing plans commensurate with project scope.
• Assists with design and construction contract administration matters, including monitoring the status and progress of projects. .
• Monitors consultants' compliance with plans and specifications.
• Coordinate design activities and meetings between design staff and consultants.
• Participate in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost and scheduling.
• Lead and provide engineering design services for roadway plans from the conceptual stage to final documents for interstate and local road/street projects with our clients.
• Coordinate the planning, staffing, scheduling, budget management, quality control of consultants and internal technical and support staff
• Leading, assigning, reviewing and monitoring the work of others, including the development of 3D corridor modeling for earthwork and cross sections, and overseeing the work of Highway Engineers, CAD Designers and EIT's.  Run models, calculations and design software.
• Working knowledge in geometric design of all classifications of roadways, hydrology and hydraulics design, construction cost estimates, traffic control, environmental commitments, etc.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

****    QUALIFICATIONS   ****

• B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited University.
• Registered Professional Engineer in the state of Texas. This position will be required to provide the seal and signature as a professional engineer.
• 7-15 years of related work experience in transportation/design having performed geometric design of roadways, preparing plans and specifications, and computing quantities and design construction estimates (TxDOT-oriented experience preferred).
• 3+ years of managerial and process controls (scheduling, cost engineering and estimating, etc.)
• Extensive knowledge of and experience with AASHTO Green Book, TxDOT Roadway Design Manual, TxDOT Roadside Design Guide, TxDOT Hydraulic Manual, and Texas MUTCD
• Strong organizational, math and computer skills including proficiency with Micro station, and Geopak (GIS experience preferred).
• Experience and knowledge with development of strip maps and ROW acquisition for statewide transportation projects.
• Experience with statewide transportation plans, corridor implementation plans and NEPA.
• A team-oriented attitude to assist with client communications.
