Job Description





Main Purpose of Job

Under general direction reporting to the president of the Refrigeration Solutions Group and working within a matrix organization, the Director of Canadian Sales develops and executes strategies for increasing sales within Canada for all Food Service Group products and services.  Establishes new and sustain existing productive relationships with key decision makers; coordinate with dealers, rep groups and other sales/marketing resources to present and deliver solutions that meet Canadian customers’ needs.  Provides accurate market analysis, forecasting and reporting on potential and actual sales.

Examples of Duties

Gathers marketplace information by networking at industry functions, reading trade journals and developing relationships with customers and prospects such as food service equipment dealers, food service consultants, designers, architects, refrigeration service firms, chain accounts and end users.

Develops, nurtures, and maintains relationships with prospective and current customers by understanding customer needs better than competition and managing the flow of information and delivery of products and services to ensure that  Food service Brands are viewed and experienced by customers as a premier products and solutions provider.

Understands manufacturer’s representative line cards and identifies sales channel conflicts.  Provides specific direction and feedback to manufacturer’s representatives.  Establishes measurable goals, monitors performance, provides ongoing feedback, prepares written performance evaluations, reviews representative contract terms and makes recommendations regarding representative retention and contract amendments.  Shares opportunities across divisions and makes recommendations on consolidation of sales channels where appropriate.

In coordination with manufacturer’s representatives, makes prospecting calls and regular visits to identify and address sales opportunities and issues. Develops and presents strategies, tactics and specific sales proposals to gain new and expanded business.  Develops and presents training on company equipment and capabilities.

Represents the Food service companies at trade shows.  Oversees show planning and coordination activities across divisional lines.  Activities may include registration, preparation of collateral materials, booth setup and tear down, and follow-up on sales prospects.

Evaluates the past performance and potential sales volume of customers and recommends sales program participation accordingly to encourage increased sales.

Acts as liaison between representative groups, customers and  Food service Divisional internal staff to assure timely and efficient order processing and customer satisfaction.

Wins business in competitive pricing situations by recommending pricing approaches consistent with sales and profit goals and the competitive circumstances.

Prepares timely sales forecasts and reports as needed on sales activities, unusual sales opportunities, marketing trends, competitive practices and customer requirements. Prepares and submits work schedules and plans as requested.

Maintains appropriate records regarding all regional manufacturer’s representatives including current contract data, certificates of insurance, representative line list, performance metrics, etc.

Develops and submits budgets in support of regional sales activities including travel, entertainment and promotional expenses.
