Principal Software Engineer

Job Description


My Client is a world-leading provider of automated systems for high-performance applications in the Electronics, Photovoltaic, Biomedical, Aerospace, and Defense industries. The company has a global customer base of industry-leading manufacturers.

They are growing their product-development team to accelerate the deployment of a breakthrough technology in high-volume production. This is a special opportunity to shape the future of manufacturing. There will be a heavy emphasis on hands-on engineering and coding in the beginning, but we are seeking a person who can grow and take on greater responsibility in the near future.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of  workstation software
  • Lead development of control-system software
  • Develop specifications, select suppliers, platforms, and components, and write code
  • Define and manage projects, directing internal and external resources
  • Manage the software product lifecycle
  • Collaborate with engineers, scientists and technicians to create innovative new products and applications, and refine and expand the performance of existing products
  • Coordinate with customer and third-party automation engineering and oversee system integration



Job Requirements


Qualifications

  • US citizen or permanent resident
  • Bachelors or Masters in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or other relevant technical area
  • Three years of hands-on experience developing commercial software products in a Microsoft Windows environment, utilizing .NET and VB or C#, C/C++, and SQL.
  • Five years of professional experience developing automation and controls solutions for complex systems incorporating:
    • Multi-axis micron-scale precision motion
    • Machine vision
    • Process control -- integrating multiple analog inputs and sophisticated algorithmic processing
    • Willingness to travel 25%, domestically and internationally
    • Outstanding teamwork and communication skills, and high leadership potential
    • Exceptional energy, technical insight, creativity and perseverance
    • Strong work ethic, multi-functionality and willingness to "pitch in" where needed

Additional preferred skills

  • Capital equipment product development
  • Systems engineering, reliability engineering, and robust design
  • Electronics manufacturing or other high-volume manufacturing
