Job Description

Ironwood Physicians is looking for motivated, professional and friendly and patient focused certified Medical Assistant for our Radiation Oncology Department. This is a fast paced and rewarding environment with excellent potential for professional growth.

Under direct supervision, assists physicians and clinicians with patient care duties in a medical environment. Maintains efficient patient flow, assists with patient care, i.e. exams, procedures and patient education and performs miscellaneous clinic support tasks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare the schedule and all rooms for the day
  • Get all paperwork necessary for new patients
  • Room patients for OTVs, Consults and Follow ups
  • Dressing changes for balloon patients
  • Assist with balloon placements and removals
  • Assist with pelvic exams
  • Check out patients
  • Enter orders for Labs, procedures, exams, lupron
  • Schedule simulations and reschedule patients if they miss their appointments
  • Schedule imaging procedures
  • Schedule new patients
  • Schedule procedures
  • Obtain authorizations for procedures/exams
  • Obtain medical records for patients
  • Call in Prescriptions
  • Enter G code
  • E prescribe scripts
  • Confirm appointments
  • Request CDs for imaging or dosimetry
  • Triage phone calls
  • Answer phone calls and return all messages by the end of the business day
  • Prepare order for medical supplies
  • Stock and clean exam rooms
  • Assist med onc physicians
  • Help in med onc department if needed
  • Arrange transportation for patients that are having procedures
  • Obtain auth for medications
  • Refer patients to other physicians
  • Sort through faxes and encounter
  • Arrange calls with physicians
  • Reschedule appointments if physician schedule changes
  • Check emails from physicians/staff
  • Verify current insurance
  • Call patients if we are a non contracted facility
  • Schedule marketing lunches on physician schedules
  • Schedule meetings on physician schedules
  • Upload ultrasound images
  • Enter charges for procedures
  • Notify of negative test results
  • Encounter new patient documents
  • Mt Vista schedule simulations
  • Mt Vista enter orders
  • Confirm personal appointments for physicians
  • Scan personal items for physicians
  • Scan/ complete expense reports for physicians
  • Make sure dry cleaning is returned from linen company for physicians lab coats
  • RSVP to seminars or personal meetings for physicians
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Job Requirements

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- MA certificate from an accredited program

QUALIFICATIONS*:
- At least 2 years of experience working as a Medical Assistant
- Radiation Oncology experience a plus
- Accuracy in obtaining and recording patient history, medications, and vitals
- Demonstrates excellent organizational and time management skills
- Exceptional documenting skills, interpersonal, telephone, and verbal communication skills
- Must be computer literate

- Ability to work with minimal supervision but has the ability to follow defined protocols and procedures
- Experience with injections & chemotherapy preferred
