Job Description

Product Manager

As Product Manager you will be responsible for growing revenue, profit and customer satisfaction for select products. This includes increasing the market share and profitability of existing products and developing new products for the company. You will enhance existing products, build products from existing ideas, and help to develop new ideas based on your industry experience and your contact with customers and prospects. You must possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy; a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality. The Product Manager role is a direct hire opportunity with one of our clients in Morrisville, NC. Target salary range is up to $85,000. Local candidates strongly preferred. Expected travel is up to 50%. No sponsorship available.

You must be able to communicate with all areas of the company. You will work with a technical counterpart to define product release requirements. You will work with marketing to define the go-to-market strategy, helping them understand the product positioning, key benefits, and target customer. You will also serve as the internal and external expert and source of information for your product offering, frequently working with the sales channel and key customers.

Responsibilities of the Product Manager:
  • Manage the entire product line life cycle from strategic planning to tactical activities
  • Define the product strategy and roadmap
  • Specify market requirements for current and future products by conducting market research supported by on-going visits to customers and non-customers
  • Drive a solution set across all areas of the company through market requirements, product contract, and positioning
  • Evaluate product extensions and new products through the appropriate business filters including revenue, profit and market potential
  • Develop sound, value-based pricing models and strategies to maximize revenue and market penetration
  • Work with internal functional managers to establish processes for ongoing maintenance and implementation of the product
  • Develop and implement a company-wide go-to-market plan, working with all departments to execute
  • Analyze potential partner relationships for the product
  • Create proposals or business case to obtain approval for new products and enhancements
  • Play a key supporting role in major sales cycles; perform product demos to prospects
  • Develop sales tools and collateral to improve sales momentum for the product

Job Requirements

Qualifications of the Product Manager:
  • 7+ years experience in “full life cycle" product management including market research, business requirements development, competitive analysis, new product launches, including development of business and functional requirements, development of strategic product plans, go to market plans, product launch plans, product marketing plans and sales programs for B2B software / SaaS solutions
  • Experience with writing user and functional business requirements
  • Knowledgeable in internet and web application technologies and a strong understanding of web 2.0 application design
  • Superb verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong initiative and self-motivation
  • Strong interpersonal skills; a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Knowledge of the financial services / insurance sector / asset management sector and knowledge of related industry compliance concepts, practices, and procedures is preferred, but not required
  • Knowledge of Risk Management is preferred, but not required
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced environment
  • BA/BS degree in Marketing, Business, Communications or related field or equivalent related experience (MBA preferred); experience can be substituted for education
