Job Description

Ascension Information Services, AIS, one of the largest healthcare IT service companies in North America, is seeking to hire a Healthcare Senior Business Analyst for the Business Intelligence (BI) and Health Information Exchange (HIE) program. 

In this role, the BI/HIE Healthcare Senior Business Analyst will manage the development and coordination of cross-Health System collaborative groups focused on Business Intelligence and Health Information Exchange. While not a technical position, this individual should be able to communicate fluently with technical staff in support of BI and HIE application and architecture development. This position also supports the development and maintenance of budgets, metrics, and timelines related to HIE and BI business plans. 
The Healthcare Senior Business Analyst assumes a proactive role in driving improvement activities to achieve department and organizational goals to deliver value.

The responsibilities of the Healthcare Senior Business Analyst include but are not limited to:

  • Facilitate the development of collaborative forums for clinicians to exchange BI and HIE-related knowledge, experience, and clinical content
  • Coordinate the formation of groups of physicians, nurses and other clinician end users in evaluating new functionality
  • Works with customer and AHIS representatives to understand and document complex business needs
  • Serves as a key resource on how systems and business processes are used and how current work processes are enabled by technology for the BI/HIE program
  • Ensures that customers’ system and business requirements are met by monitoring available metrics and collecting feedback
  • Helps assigned function(s) in clarifying, developing, and planning for current and future needs.
  • Assists with defining and managing system requirements that align with organizational goals
  • Analyzes information requirements that may cross multiple systems
  • Able to analyze vendor proposals, evaluate build versus buy, formulate significant components of a project plan, coordinate vendors, participate in testing, and track project progress
  • Leads multifunctional teams to accomplish project goals on schedule and within budget
  • Provides and/or develops training for customers on enhancements to existing programs or addition of new applications
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Able to travel up to 20%

Job Requirements


  • Requires 7 or more years of professional experience
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent.
  • Experience in HIT, HIE, or BI desirable
  • PMP certification a plus
  • Knowledge of HIE/EHR Integration a plus
  • Ability to conceptualize, plan, organize, coordinate, and manage the work of a major program or function within the department


  • Experience in leading moderate to large projects
  • Experience working in a clinical systems/information technology environment
  • Experience working in a healthcare environment
  • Familiar  with clinical information system applications such as electronic health record
  • Experience working in complex / multi-facility environments.

Specific Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Excellent communication and scheduling skills required in order to coordinate national level activities.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office products including MS Project, Visio, Excel
  • Familiarity with SharePoint knowledge repository
  • Proven experience working on projects in a team environment
  • Facilitation skills

  • Takes initiative and works independently
  • Able to travel as required up to 20%
  • Able to work flexible hours depending on project requirements
