Job Description

ROOT SPORTS™ is the home of the Colorado Rockies, Utah Jazz, Mountain West Conference and Big Sky Conference.  The network reaches 2.5 million households across nine states and delivers more than 350 live events each year – all of which are available in high definition.
 
ROOT SPORTSregional sports networks are operated by DIRECTV Sports Networks LLC in the Rocky Mountain, Northwest, and Pittsburgh regions. The three networks combined reach 9 million households across 18 states and own exclusive programming and distribution partnerships with more than 20 teams and conferences. DIRECTV Sports Networks is a controlled subsidiary of DIRECTV, the world’s most popular television service.

 
The Sr. Administrative Assistant is responsible for providing office management and excellent administrative support to the General Manager and other managers in a positive and timely manner.
 
This position reports to the General Manager, and is based in Denver.
 
Essential Functions:
  • Provide front desk support for the whole office including managing incoming phone calls, handling viewer complaints/questions, taking messages, and routing calls
  • Answer manager phone lines as requested and route calls or take messages as appropriate
  • Provide stellar visitor experience to guests, vendors, and other visitors to the office while they await their meetings
  • Maintain office “welcome” message boards for visiting clients, staff and other key constituents
  • Coordinate calendars for designated managers and for all building conference rooms
  • Distribute mail and prepare overnight packages, courier items, and inter office communication
  • Proactively organize filing systems including preparing labels and folders
  • Coordinate travel arrangements and prepare expense reports for reimbursement for designated managers
  • Provide back-up phone and project support to the Corporate administrative staff
  • Maintain all common areas including conference rooms, mailroom, and lunchroom cleanliness and appearance on a daily basis
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute staff events including the annual holiday and summer events as well as quarterly all-staff meetings and small group lunches
  • Develop, coordinate, and execute staff initiatives (Employee of the Quarter, Staff Birthdays, Hire Date Anniversaries) with the HR department
  • Support Sales and Marketing departments on coordination of tickets, suite catering, and other hospitality needs for live events
  • Maintain office and break room supply inventory and order as needed
  • Assist Marketing department on event coordination and execution
  • Act as primary point of contact for staff communication for Corporate and DIRECTV including reviewing and updating employee phone lists, GAL in Outlook, and distribution lists
  • Build and maintain a calendar of events including upcoming regional events, vacations, etc.
  • Manage any regional safety initiatives as directed by HR and Safety departments
  • Provide support for new hires in getting desk setup and providing location-specific information
  • Assist all departments on special projects as needed

Job Requirements

  • Five years of experience supporting multiple managers in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Self-motivation and the ability to work with minimal supervision, with a desire to learn new skills while improving existing ones, and a positive, up-beat, ‘can-do’ attitude
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office with Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Professional demeanor that is highlighted in all communications and the ability to work with all levels of individuals, both internally and externally, with professionalism, discretion, and tact
  • Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality with sensitive information
  • Outstanding organizational skills with a strong attention to detail and the ability to be flexible and adaptable in a team environment
  • Resourcefulness and comfort with reaching out to other departments to complete assignments
  • Regional sports knowledge and enthusiasm is strongly encouraged
  • Business hours are typically 8:30am to 5:30pm, ability to work overtime may also be necessary
