Job Description:  

Informatics Pharmacist Coordinator coordinates the development, implementation, and management of automation and technology to optimize pharmacy practice, pharmacy systems, and the medication-use process. Specializes in the medication process, from ordering to administration, and is responsible for effective process design, development, and implementation of the Electronic Medical Record and Clinical Decision Support. Supports pharmacists, physicians, nurses, and other clinicians as the resource for requests related to EMR and pharmacy system changes and additions. Works closely with clinicians, departmental leadership, Quality, Patient Safety, Finance, regulatory, and Information Systems staff to clarify needs, prioritize requests, design workflow to fit with electronic systems, and execute change and facilitate adaptation. Provides EMR-related staff education/training and assist with precepting of pharmacy residents.

Job Requirements

Graduate of an ACPE accredited College of Pharmacy. Doctor of Pharmacy or other advanced degree highly preferred. Completion of Epic and/or College-level Information Technology Courses preferred.
Registered pharmacist in the state of Illinois or eligible. Pharmacy experience (2-4 years) in a hospital setting strongly preferred. Exceptional aptitude or knowledge may be considered in lieu of experience.
Background in pharmacy automation, pharmacy computer system applications, or information technology experience preferred

Knowledge of contemporary hospital/clinical practice and service. and understanding of general hospital operations. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to interact constructively with supervisors and co-workers. Requires excellent organizational skills and the ability to work independently. Strong informal leadership skills to oversee, guide, and coordinate work of informatics technical staff. Strong general clinical knowledge and expertise. Good teaching and precepting skills and expertise in experiential training. Demonstrates independent decision making as appropriate in evaluation of requests for system improvements and determines feasibility and advisability of system changes.

*Registered pharmacist in the state of Illinois or eligible
*Epic Willow(Rx) or Beacon certification preferred
