Job Description

Job Title: Sr. Engineering and Construction Project Manager
 
Williams is a premier developer and operator of energy infrastructure in North America; one of the top gathering and processing companies in the country and a major interstate transporter of natural gas.
 
Our organization is seeking a highly skilled Sr. Engineering and Construction Project Manager in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  The primary responsibility will be leading project teams in the design, engineering, contracting, construction, installation and startup of natural gas compressor stations and condensate stabilization facilities.  This role will manage the engineering and construction of medium size projects ($10MM to $100 MM), moderately complex engineering and construction, commercially driven, growth projects, such as a plant or facility expansion.   Additionally the role may manage a combination of medium and smaller size projects, depending upon the needs in a particular area.   Another key function will ensure projects are completed in accordance with Williams Integrated Management System (WIMS) and Project Life Cycle (PLC) principles.
 
NOTE: Less Than 25% domestic travel will be required.
 
Responsibilities:
  • This position leads project teams in accordance with Project Life Cycle (capital and project management process) principles.
  • Interaction with operations, internal technical resources, stakeholders, commercial, engineering firms, contractors, vendors, and inspectors in developing projects and implementing strategies for execution.
  • Ensure projects are completed in accordance with Williams Integrated Management System (WIMS) and Project Life Cycle (PLC) principles.
  • Lead and direct projects while coordinating key functions with internal and external technical resources under the guidance of and Project Life Cycle (PLC), typically from charter through closure.
  • Appropriately staff and resource the core project team to facilitate achievement of the project objective.
  • Develop and implement project plans which include clearly defined risk mitigation plans, schedules, cost estimates, contracting strategies, engineering design, construction, quality assurance, commissioning, and project closure to complete projects on-time, on-budget, and with satisfactory quality and safety results.
  • Ensure stakeholder buy-in and support for project plans.  Provide stakeholders with regular, frequent project status and cost estimate reports.
  • Develop optimum facility solutions that maximize the EVA over the life of the project.
  • Understand the economic drivers of the transaction being developed and incorporate them into pipeline and facility options.
  • Present and implement recommendations supported by sound engineering and operational efficiency that support reliability targets and reduce risks inherent in the project.
  • Hold project team members and contractors accountable for producing results.
  • Keep the project team and key stakeholders informed of the projects status (i.e. schedule, cost, safety, etc) and scope changes that occur during the life of the project.

Job Requirements

A Successful Candidate will:
  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related technical field.
  • 8-10 years of industry specific project management or engineering experience.
  • Successful experience in operations, engineering, and/or leading projects can be substituted for education.
  • Experience conceptualizing viable technical solutions, developing capital projections, schedules, and operating cost, and driving integration of the project to a successful execution through startup where the project would be transitioned to an operating unit preferred.
  A Successful Candidate may:
  • Possess engineering license (PE).
  • Possess project management professional certification (PMP).
  • Have a Microsoft Specialist (MS) Project Certification.
  ***This position will be filled at the posted level and within the salary range if commensurate to the experience (i.e., skills, knowledge, & abilities) of successful candidate; however if unable to be filled at this level, the position may be filled with a respective competitive market based on the experience of the selected candidate.   Williams Corporation will pay relocation costs associated for this position.
