SEC Financial Reporting Supervisor

Job Description

The Financial Reporting and Accounting Research Department is responsible for filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission regarding the company's financial results and is responsible for accounting research to support the company's financial standards and transactions.

Responsibilities

--Compare and contrast financial disclosures of the company with those of other SEC registrants for best practices
--Coordinate and facilitate inquiries and requests of external auditors
--Assist in the research, diagnostics and implementation of new accounting standards and disclosure requirements issued by regulators and governing bodies
-- Formulate and update existing company financial standards (accounting policies and procedures) in accordance with U.S.GAAP
--Assist with SOX 404 compliance regarding internal controls over financial reporting
-- Provide leadership and mentoring to the SEC analyst
--Review and coordinate impairment testing for goodwill and other assets performed by the business units
--Perform in a fast-paced environment with significant deadlines
--Communicate with business unit finance personnel to provide guidance to ad-hoc accounting and finance inquiries
--Perform other duties and special projects as assigned in a changing and dynamic environment

Main Tasks

--Support the planning, preparation, review and issuance of SEC financial filing requirements (Form 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, 11-K)
--Prepare and/or review quarterly workpapers required for SEC financial filings.
-Assist with the XBRL mapping and tagging of SEC filings.
--Review financial statements prepared by consolidations department for compliance with U.S. GAAP disclosure requirements and perform financial analyses of company results.
--Monitor consistency of financial data in externally published information.
--Coordinate with corporate and business unit contacts for required input and disclosure support for SEC filings.
--Review quarterly earnings releases, schedules and call scripts
--Perform accounting research and document the company's position in regard to complex accounting matters
--Manage and supervise the pension and 401K plan financial statement preparation and review the annual plan financial statements and related workpapers
--Supervise the review of financial sections and supporting schedules of annual proxy statement

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
--Bachelor's degree in accounting required.
Masters degree preferred.
--CPA required.
--5+ years of financial accounting experience with large public accounting firm and/or corporate/industrial experience.
--Technical accounting (U.S. GAAP) proficiency.
--SEC reporting experience and/or experience auditing publicly traded companies with thorough knowledge of SEC reporting processes.
--Demonstrates (1) ability to work independently and solve problems, (2) leadership, (3) ability to effectively communicate information (written and oral), (4) strong worth ethic, (5) strong attention to detail, and (6) good organization and project planning skills.
--Flexibile to work overtime as required.
