UnitedHealth Group is growing!  Our WellMed Medical Management office located in San Antonio, Texas is currently searching for a Junior SQL Application Developer to join our growing Risk Adjustment department.  In this junior role, you will be responsible for Data RAP (Risk Adjustment Program) data analysis, trending and reporting. You will be tasked with developing best practices, ensure quality of application code development and and assist the Lead Application Developer in planning for and implementing new and improved applications and other technology.  In addition, you will be tasked with the following:

  • Designing, coding, testing, debugging, documenting and supporting all types of applications consistent with established specifications and business requirements to deliver business value

  • Developing pioneering approaches to emerging industry trends

  • Contribute to development team and help to achieve key business objectives

  • Contribute to large, complex projects to achieve key business objectives

  • Collaborate with the team on application architecture design and decision-making

  • Design and implement application enhancements in collaboration with different teams

  • Solves unique and complex problems with broad impact on the business

  • Translates highly complex concepts in ways that can be understood by a variety of audiences

  • Excellent verbal and written skill.  Communication will involve phone/email)to both internal and external DataRAP users.

Job Requirements

  • 1 year experience with SQL or PHP

  • Development experience associated with new and emerging business

  • Technical experience in one or more aspects of Information Systems Development or Business Information Systems area

  • Understanding of distributed technologies and architecture

  • Proficiency in Computer software: MS Project, Power Point, Excel and Visio

  • Ability to manage relationships across the enterprise including managing expectations with business customers and leadership from project initiation to execution


  • HS Diploma/GED with a Bachelor's degree in area of expertise 

  • Healthcare knowledge and experience

  • Experience with VB.Net or C#

  • MS SQL server management studio experience

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
