Job Description

  • Leading a group of Electrical Design Engineers who are responsible for developing, simulating, synthesizing, verifying, and documenting Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) designs with VHDL as the supported HDL.
  • Supporting FAA certification strategies related to the development of programmable logic device designs used in avionics with high design assurance levels.
  • Applying high design assurance processes, methodologies, and tools to the design and verification of FPGA-based designs.
  • Overseeing the development of functional architectures and the selection of target devices based on functional and performance requirements.
  • Reviewing development lifecycle documentation, including: planning documents, requirements documents, VHDL modules, timing analyses, schematics, and bills of material.
  • Providing guidance for design lifecycle events and items such as requirements management, design standards, design reviews, and component obsolescence.
  • Achieving company goals associated with cost, quality, and delivery schedule as related to the team’s design activities.
  • Partnering with the project management team on schedule, cost, and risk aspects associated with FPGA development and device integration into the final product.

Job Requirements

  • BS or MS degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering required.
  • 5+ years FPGA/Programmable Logic design experience required.
  • 3+ years leadership experience in a high design assurance environment required (e.g., avionics, aerospace, medical devices).
  • Ideal candidates will have experience with designing technical solutions and creating design processes for development activities in accordance with RTCA DO-254.
  • Strong proficiency in the use of HDL for design capture, digital logic simulation tools, FPGA synthesis tools, and FPGA build tools required.
  • Proficiency in the use of MS Word and Excel required.
  • Knowledge of a HDL required, VHDL preferred.
  • Must have excellent communication, analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills.
  • Experience with Avionics, Aerospace, or Military design and manufacturing environments a plus.
