Job Description

Position Summary:


The Posting Clerk is responsible for the reconciliation of patient accounts and maintaining balanced cash collections.


The staffing of the Center is based on a teamwork concept. Employees may be cross-trained in other administrative areas and may be expected to perform duties other than their normal ones as staffing and patient needs change.




1.                  Posts payments and adjustments to accounts following established CSRPASC  policies.

2.                  Balances and reconciles payment batches to OTC, mail and lockbox receipts.


3.                  Follow up on NSF and stop-pay checks

4.                  Assist in month end close procedures

5.                  Review credit balance report


6.                  Answers calls from patients or insurance companies with account questions


7.                  Answers phone for incoming call as necessary


8.                  Performs other clerical duties as assigned


9.                  Maintains established Center/departmental policies and procedures


10.              Maintains confidentiality of patient and Center related business


11.              Develops and maintains an effective working relationship with patients, families, visitors and other Center employees


12.              Documents concisely, precisely and accurately on all records or documents as indicated by policy


13.              Participates in Quality Assessment activities as directed for the continuous improvement of patient care and Center business

Job Requirements



1.                  Previous experience with Accounts Receivable/insurance/collections


2.                  High School graduate or equivalent


3.                  Computer skills


4.                  Basic office skills


5.                  Knowledge of medical terminology


6.                  Must be alert, honest and of good character

 Special Skills and Knowledge: 

1.                  An understanding of Accounts Receivable principles and procedures


2.         Ability to secure payments using effective communication skills in a professional manner


Essential Functions:


1.                  Ability to read and write (legibly)


2.                  Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively


3.                  Ability to respond quickly, physically and mentally as the need arises


4.                  Compliance with the attendance policy


5.                  Ability to function independently without constant supervision


Physical/Mental Requirements for Position:


1.                  Ability to frequently utilize full range of motion, including crouching, stooping, reaching bending and twisting


2.                  Ability to constantly utilize manual dexterity


3.                  Ability to see and hear


4.                  Ability to understand simple written and verbal instructions


5.                  Ability to solve simple problems


6.                  Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks
