Robert Half Technology is looking for a results-oriented Linux administrator for one of our local clients. Reporting to the IT Director, the administrator will build, configure and maintain all environments, and work with other internal and external providers to augment support of these systems to ensure adherence to service level agreements. The administrator also will work closely with the development team to develop infrastructure to support new products and services. Responsibilities are included but not limited to: ? Coordinate with network provider and internal resources to ensure availability, reliability, and scalability of Linux systems and databases to meet business demands. ? Perform file system configuration and management. ? Manage servers and load balancing ? Create automation scripts. ? Responsible for the virtual and storage environment troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software problems. ? Define and perform system backups and recovery procedures. ? Monitor and test system performance and provide performance statistics and reports. ? Recommend and execute modifications to systems in order to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance. ? Follow policies, procedures, and technologies to ensure Linux system security. ? Conduct research on Linux-related hardware and software in support of procurement and system development efforts. ? Review and implement new system releases and vendor supplied patches. ? Develop and maintain systems documentation. ? Participate in expanding monitoring systems and other automated solutions. Qualifications : ? University degree in the field of computer science. ? 3+ years of active Linux Administration experience ? Experience in Data Center environment is a plus Certifications in Linux/Unix a plus, but not required. ? Specific knowledge of RedHat and Ubuntu Linux Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining Linux, Linux services, and Linux networking. ? Excellent knowledge of Python required. ? Experience with ORM (sqlalchemy), paramiko, and boto. ? Extensive AWS services, including S3, SQS, and AMI. ? Extensive experience in distributed mysql/postgresql, especially master-master replication and clustering. ? Working technical knowledge of coding using Perl, CGI, C, shell scripting, and PHP. ? Extensive experience in virtualization, especially Parallels Virtuozzo and/or Open Vz. ? Hands-on hardware and software troubleshooting experience. ? Ability to conduct research into Linux issues and products as required. ? Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language. ? Excellent documentation skills.
